International Monetary Fund's chief: Global economy has entered a recession

27.03.2020, Washington.

The global economy has entered a recession, stated the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva on March 27.

We are in an unprecedented situation where a global health pandemic has turned into an economic and financial crisis,” said in the statement on the IMF website.

Global production will decline in 2020 due to a sudden stop in economic activity, said the report.

According to Georgieva, developing countries will be the most vulnerable.  They will experience a combination of a public health crisis with a sudden reduction in capital flows and a sharp drop in commodity prices.
