Sympathetic Chinese raise money for Iran to fight coronavirus

09.03.2020, Tehran.

Sympathetic Chinese citizens donated half a million dollars to Iran to fight the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic in less than a day, IRNA reported on March 8.

The Iranian Embassy in China published a message on the local social network Weibo on March 5 with a designated account to raise money to fight the coronavirus epidemic.

As a result, Chinese sympathizers of Iran transferred 4 billion yuan ($576,000) in less than a day.

In response to this “unforgettable” act by the Chinese, the Iranian Embassy said that the goodwill of Chinese citizens has made a great impression. The diplomats noted that all funds raised would be used to fight the epidemic.

It is also emphasized that despite the fact that three days later the Iranian Embassy deleted the message with the account number, many Chinese continued donating money and encouraged others to offer their mite.

Earlier the head of the Chinese Alibaba Group Jack Ma donated one million masks to Iran.
