Secretary General: NATO is not going to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan

NATO forces are not leaving Afghanistan, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said on February 15 during the Munich Security Conference.

Stoltenberg added that now the alliance is prepared to reconsider the number of its forces in the region.

We are not leaving Afghanistan. But we are prepared to adjust our force level if the Taliban (organization banned in Russia – Rossa Primavera News Agency) demonstrate the will and the ability to reduce violence and make real compromises,» he said.

On February 13, US President Donald Trump said about a possible cessation of hostilities in Afghanistan as Washington had new opportunities to reach an agreement with the radical movement Taliban (organization banned in Russia).
