The influence of nationalists in Ukraine is so great that Ukrainian politicians have to say in public what they don’t think, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Rossiyskaya Gazeta informs on February 9.
“Many Ukrainian partners try to take a pragmatic approach in their conversations to problems that exist and are harmful,” Lavrov said.
However, when it comes to public statements, “almost every one of them speaks differently,” the Minister said.
The Russian Foreign Minister suggested that this may be due to the strong dependence of Ukrainian politicians on nationalists, “Probably, there is now a demand, which cannot be overcome, the influence of nationalists of all stripes is so great, including those who march with SS banners on the streets of cities, with torches.”
