The state and the nation of Ukraine will fall apart if it continues to form and develop around a construct, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on January 26 on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on the Russia One channel.
“In Ukraine, when they say that the Ukrainian state and the nation must be formed on the basis of ethnicity, then which ethnic group is it? There isn’t one!” said Kurginyan. “Therefore, you want to form a state and a nation on the basis of the sociocultural construct called Ukrainism, just like Bandera [Nazi collaborator – translator’s note] did. He is the author of such a construct, and everything there is built around this construct.”
The political scientist made a prediction where it may lead when a nation and a state are formed on such a basis. “In the 21st century, do you want to form a nation and a state on the basis of a construct? I’ll tell you what will happen – this construct will fall into pieces along with the nation and the state.”
Kurginyan called on Ukraine to return to its great Soviet-Russian history, which is natural and organic, in order to not to destroy the most important thing, the nation. “Trash the filthy construct, and return to its great Soviet-Russian history, and maybe then you will save not the state, which is already partially lost, but the nation. Save the Ukrainian people from this perilous exploitation of the criminal Bandera construct,” he said in conclusion.
It should be mentioned that in 2014, a coup d’etat took place in Ukraine, which resulted in radical nationalist forces coming to state power.
Each year in January, torchlight marches honoring the leader of Ukrainian nationalists Stepan Bandera’s birthday are held in Kiev.
On January 2, 2020, Israeli and Polish officials condemned the rally.
On January 16, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich voiced his concern about the glorification of Stepan Bandera in Ukraine, stressing that Bandera served in the SS during WWII.
