No war to happen. USA and Iran stop at edge ― Federation Council

09.01.2020, Moscow.

Neither nuclear not hybrid war between the USA and Iran will take place, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev said on January 9, Interfax reports.

“In foreseeable future, no war between the USA and Iran will take place, neither nuclear nor hybrid. The opposing sides have managed to stop at the edge and to break the spiral of mutual accusations of aggression,” Kosachev said.

According to the Council official, the most important thing is that the sides have “reset” their mutual claims. Each side announced itself the victor, discussing any further moves as a response to the other side’s possible action.

The USA and Iran will start a “who blinks first” game, which is much better than attacks against embassies or air strikes, the Council official concluded.

On January 8, the CNN reported that Iran had notified the USA of the missile attack. Tehran had informed the Iraqi authorities about the strikes against the USA bases, according to the press service of the Iraqi prime minister.
