Lugansk People’s Republic's militia: Ukraine violates Minsk agreements again

28.12.2019, Lugansk.

The Ukrainian side has failed to withdraw heavy weapons from the contact line near the town of Schastye, a press service officer of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Ivan Filiponenko said, LuganskInformCenter reports.

According to the available information, five infantry combat vehicles, three armored personnel carriers, and one tank are deployed in this town. This heavy equipment, according to the LPR militia, is from the 46th Brigade of the Ukrainian army.

Filiponenko also added that local residents have repeatedly demanded that “the commanders of the Ukrainian occupation forces” must remove the heavy equipment from their town, but these demands remain ignored.

The spokesperson of the LPR People’s Militia called the residents “of the Donbass territories occupied by Ukraine to ensure that the weapons and equipment are not placed near residential buildings.” If the lawful demands are not fulfilled, civilians should report the violations of their rights by Ukraine to the special monitoring mission of the OSCE.

According to the Minsk agreements, which were recently confirmed at a Normandy Four meeting of the leaders of Russia, Germany, France, and Ukraine, complete ceasefire must be maintained and all the heavy weapons must be removed along the contact line between Ukraine and the Donbass republics.
