He’s a scoundrel like Poroshenko, maybe worse! – Kurginyan on Zelensky

11.12.2019, Moscow.

Current Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s behavior is one of mockery, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on the program “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Russia 1 television channel on December, 10.

In Kurginyan’s opinion, Zelensky behaved himself scornfully during the negotiations. “This is absolutely boorish KVN-style mockery,” said political scientist, apologizing for the comparison to KVN fans [KVN, or “The Club of the Funny and Inventive” is a Soviet and post-Soviet amateur comedy show that propelled Zelensky to popularity as a comedian – translator’s note]. “What kind of conversation is this in the presence of politicians?  Doesn’t he understand what they’re talking about? He understands it perfectly well. He is just mocking everything,” said the leader of the Essence of Time movement.

Kurginyan drew attention to the special methods of influencing an audience that Zelensky used, “…When the phrase ‘occupied territories’ is used so often, it means that the persons saying it is doing so on purpose. He deliberately confirms what people here keep denying when they say that Zelensky wants some kind of peace, that he is not at all like Poroshenko. He’s a scoundrel just like Poroshenko, maybe worse. This is my personal assessment”.

During the talks in the “Normandy format”, held on December 9, the President of Ukraine behaved as if he was confused as if he was in a public place for the first time. The negotiations themselves ended with the confirmation of the Minsk agreements; additionally, an agreement was reached on the exchange of prisoners in Donbass.
