Kurginyan: Zelensky’s goal is to undermine the pathway of the Normandy Four dialogue

10.12.2019, Moscow.

The president of Ukraine will take advantage of any excess to undermine the constructive discussion on the Donbass conflict at the Normandy Four summit, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on December 8 on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.

Over the several years of the Normandy Format, the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany have had enough time to comprehensively discuss plans to put an end to the Donbass conflict. All the participants of the talks clearly see the way to resolve the problem. “All of the agreements have been reached, and many people are speaking about this. We all understand that such a path exists,” the political scientist noted.

The current situation is absolutely unacceptable for Ukraine. “I believe that Zelensky’s entire goal is to undermine this path. To make up anything at all, any excess, to try to undermine this path,” the expert said.

At the same time, the Minsk agreements have been reached, and Ukraine has to react to them somehow. “With the current strategy in Ukraine’s policy, they cannot be fulfilled. Change the strategy or withdraw from the Minsk agreements yourselves. We find either option acceptable,” Kurginyan stressed.

In 2014, after Crimea reunited with Russia and the war began in Southeastern Ukraine, the first meeting of the leaders of France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine took place in Normandy (France) to discuss the conflict. During the following years, cooperation through the Normandy Four has taken place on various diplomatic levels. The next meeting of the leaders of the four countries will take place on December 9 in Paris.
