Russian observers report 21 violations of ceasefire in Syria

The Russian observers have reported 21 violations of ceasefire in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

The representatives of Russia in the Russian-Turkish join ceasefire commission in the Idlib de-escalation zone reported six incidents in the province of Latakia and four in Aleppo. Eight times fire was opened in the province of Idlib and three times in Hama.

The Turkish observers, in their turn, reported only six incidents of ceasefire violation: one in Latakia, three in Aleppo, and two in Idlib.

On May 4, 2017, Russia, Turkey, and Iran signed a memorandum to create de-escalation zones in the Syrian Arab Republic. According to the Memorandum, ceasefire monitoring groups were established. Also, Russia and Turkey came to an agreement to create the Idlib de-escalation zone, in which ceasefire regime has been in force starting from August 31, 2019, 6 am.
