Nine civilians die as result of coalition air strike in Afghanistan

24.11.2019, Kabul.

Fourteen civilians were wounded in an international coalition air strike in Farah province in the west of Afghanistan, Afghan television channel 1TV reported on November 24.

An air strike killed nine people and wounded other five. A child was also injured, said a member of province council Khair Mohammad Nowrozi.

Three of the wounded are in serious condition and have been transported to a hospital in the country’s neighbouring province.

The Farah Provincial Council, where the air strike took place, demanded that the country government in Kabul investigate the incident. Local authorities called on the government to take serious steps to prevent such incidents in future.

However, a spokesman for the Farah governor said the air strike killed at least five militants.

The US troops and its allies have been conducting a military operation against Islamist terrorist groups in Afghanistan since 2001.

For the US Army, this campaign became the longest military campaign in which its armed forces participated.
