Iran launches 30 new centrifuges to enrich uranium

05.11.2019, Tehran.

A cascade of centrifuges working together for quicker uranium enrichment has been launched in Iran, announced Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, on November 4, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) company reports.

30 IR-6 advanced centrifuges have been launched, said Salehi.

He also noted that over the past two months, Iran has increased production of low-enriched uranium tenfold.

“Washington’s erroneous policy” forced Iran to increase uranium production, emphasized Salehi.

In September, Iran began the third step towards reducing its commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Tehran was forced to withdraw from the nuclear deal in response to non-compliance by the European Union.

In the coming week, Iran is expected to take the fourth step towards reducing its commitment under the JCPOA.
