The consensus in the Western world has collapsed, and there is a struggle between two projects, said the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan, on the air of the program “The right to know” on the channel TVC on October 26.
During the conversation, the host Dmitriy Kulikov said that the problem of Ukraine, which cannot choose which decision-making center to follow, is just a more vivid reflection of the modern world’s problem in general.
Sergey Kurginyan explained that this is a problem of global instability, which is caused by the collapse of the Western consensus, which was once based on a common belief in progress and humanism.
When the common belief in the development ended, there emerged diverging forces. “Liberal forces say ‘multiculturalism, the end of history, some kind of quasi-stability of an unclear type, the termination of development, the Club of Rome’ “. And the conservatives stand against it and say, ” ‘No, what for? We shall keep on moving as we have been’. Such a vestigial conservatism arose,” – Kurginyan explained.
The political scientist also described the essence of the competing projects: “My American acquaintances have told me: ‘We have two competing projects. The Grand Inquisitor is, conventionally speaking, a CIA project in which the main model of the future human being is such a blissful child, as Dostoevsky described in his Grand Inquisitor: there will be millions of happy children, and a small elite that indeed understands something. And the ‘Omega’ project, in which freedom is possible, unless one spits wrong in the streetcar; then he is executed“.
Kurginyan explained that he would have never said that this is true if it wasn’t for today’s madness, when processes have become so turbulent. “At least we need to expand the analytical framework to include what is usually outside of it. I don’t insist on the idea in any way. I’m simply expanding the framework, ” the political scientist concluded.
