“He is being subjected to every sort of torment” – Assange’s father about his son

30.09.2019, London.

The detention conditions for WikiLeaks portal founder Julian Assange in the British prison are inhumane, Assange’s father John Shipton said on September 29, The Independent reports.

“He is being subjected to every sort of torment,” Assange’s father stressed. When Assange met with his father in August, he was shaky, and he was suffering from anxiety, Shipton said.

UN calls to release Assange gave no result, and he remains in one of the most secure British prisons, Belmarsh, Shipton said.

Previously, Assange’s attorney Carlos Poveda said that the WikiLeaks founder was completely isolated in prison, having only one hour per day to communicate with people.
