12.09.2019, Donetsk.

The Donetsk People’s Republic considers becoming part of Russia as a federal district to be the perfect integration scenario, the DPR leader Denis Pushilin said on September 12 on his website.

According to the DPR leader, the maximum integration with the Russian Federation is the only key task of the Republic’s leadership. He believes that this is quite feasible as the population of Donbass feels optimistic. The optimism is based on the implementation of the simplified procedure of applying for Russian passports for DPR citizens.

Pushilin also noted that patience is the main quality of the Republic’s residents.

The Donetsk and the Lugansk People’s Republics proclaimed independence after the coup d’etat in Kiev in February 2014. Staring from April of the same year, the new Kiev authorities have been trying to return the Republics under their control using military force. To date, according to UN estimates, about 13 thousand people have become victims of the conflict. The diplomatic resolution of the conflict is taking place within the so-called Normandy Format, which involves Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany.

On April 24, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a document simplifying the procedure of granting Russian passports to DPR citizens.
