Ukrainian army inflicts new artillery strike on DPR capital

The Ukrainian army shelled the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) capital with heavy mortars on August 20, Donetsk News Agency informed.

In the early morning, the Ukrainian army opened fire on the village of Staromikhaylovka with 120-mm heavy mortars. Fifteen explosions of 120-mm mortar shells were noted in the village. Simultaneously with the shelling of the village of Staromikhaylovka, the Ukrainian army opened fire on the village of Spartak and on Donetsk. The DPR Armed Forces servicemen registered the explosions of fifteen 120-mm and eleven 82-mm mortar shells on the territory of Spartak. The Ukrainian army did not confine itself to mortar shelling and opened fire with BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle main guns, grenade launchers, and small arms. There is no information on the destruction and victims of the shelling.

On July 21, 2019, a comprehensive permanent ceasefire, which the Ukrainian army has already repeatedly violated, was announced on the territory of the Donetsk region. The first violation was registered on July 21 at about 1 p.m, at which time the Ukrainian army opened fire on the DPR territory with small arms.
