26.07.2019, Kiev.

The Ukrainian Security Service has detained the Russian tanker NEYMA at port Izmail in the Odessa region, the agency reported on Facebook on July 25.

The Ukrainian Security Service identified the tanker NIKA SPIRIT, which entered the port under its IMO number 8895528 in the EQUASIS international information system, as the tanker NEYMA, which had previously taken part in blocking Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait.

Investigative activity is reportedly taking place on the detained tanker, including a search and the seizure of ship documentation and records of radio communications.

On November 25 of last year, three Ukrainian warships with 24 military personnel on board, including two SBU officers, violated the Russian border in the Kerch Strait and were detained by the Russian border guards. At this time, the sailors are in custody. A criminal case has been filed against them. Vladimir Putin assessed the actions by the Kiev authorities as a provocation on the eve of the presidential elections in Ukraine.
