British opposition leader condemns London for its position on tanker attack

15.06.2019, London.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn called upon the British authorities to ease tensions surrounding the incident in the Gulf, through his Twitter page on June 15.

“Britain should act to ease tensions in the Gulf, not fuel a military escalation that began with US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement,” wrote Corbyn.

The Labour leader noted that “without credible evidence about the tanker attacks, the government’s rhetoric will only increase the threat of war.

On June 13, Iranian and Arabian media reported on an attack against two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Later, Reuters published a report that the tankers had been torpedoed and caught on fire. The US blamed Tehran for the assault. At the same time, Iran evacuated the crew from the burning Front Altair tanker to its port town Jask.
