Missile destroyer from US Navy carrier strike group passes through Strait of Hormus

The first destroyer from the US Navy carrier strike group has entered the Persian Gulf, the US Naval Institute Press reported on May 24.

The missile destroyer that passed through the Strait of Hormuz “did not encounter any unsafe maritime operations by any other armed force,” reported the press service.

Other ships from the US Navy carrier strike group: a nuclear aircraft carrier, a missile cruiser and 2 missile destroyers, as well as 3 large landing ships, may enter the Persian Gulf in coming days.

On May 16, two US Navy destroyers entered the Persian Gulf amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran.
