Rebels: UN does not allow transfer for treatment of wounded in Yemen war

18.05.2019, Beirut.

The UN is blocking attempts of neighbouring countries to take those injured in the Yemen war for treatment, said Ansarullah movement spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam, Al Mayadeen TV Channel reports.

Many countries have offered to take the injured in the Yemen war for treatment, but the United Nations has rejected these initiatives”,  Mohammed Abdul Salam said.

Earlier, the President of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of Yemen Mohammed Ali al-Houthi accused the UN of provoking a humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.

Since 2014 Yemen has been witnessing a civil war between the central government’s forces and the Shiite (Zaidi) militia of the Houthi movement. The rebels enjoy support from Iran, while Saudi Arabia and the US are the main proponents of the government.

The Ansarullah movement is a paramilitary group of Shiites professing Zaidi Islam (Jarudiyah), operating on the territory of Yemen.
