17.09.2019, Moscow.

The railway section of the Crimean Bridge will be completed in 2019 ahead of schedule, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 16 at the media forum organized by the All-Russian People’s Front.

The railway section of the bridge will be completed at the end of the year, ahead of schedule, and it will work,” said Putin.

Also, the head of state voiced the hope that opening the railway section of the bridge will result in lowering the cost of large scale shipments of various goods to Crimea across the Kerch Strait.

The Crimean Bridge motorway section was opened on May 15, 2018. Cargo traffic started on October 1, 2018. It is the longest bridge in Russia; its length is 19 km.

It should be noted that 5 million vehicles, including almost half a million trucks and 60 thousand buses, traveled across the bridge during the first year of operation.
