Ukrainian leadership accused of treason

19.04.2019, Kiev.

The Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations (Ukrainian: GBR) is conducting a criminal investigation initiated on April 1 into high treason, organization of mass murders during the Maidan events, and a violent coup against active Ukrainian senior officials, a member of the Aver Lex law firm, Vitaliy Serdyuk, reported on his Facebook page on April 17.

“The GBR initiated an investigation designated No. 62019000000000403 on April 1, 2019, into facts of intentionally ceding Crimea by the current Ukrainian officials, coup d’etat, state treason, and organization of mass murders at the Maidan in 2014,” the attorney reports.

He explains that the criminal proceeding is based on materials collected by a legal team on behalf of Viktor Yanukovich, in 9 volumes, which were submitted to the GBR on February 5, 2019. A number of senior Ukrainian officials are accused of committing criminal offenses. The persons under investigation include Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Aleksandr Turchinov, Andrey Parubiy, Valentin Nalivaychenko, Sergey Pashinsky, Oleg Tyagkibok, Yuriy Lutsenko, Stepan Poltorak, and others.

The attorney supported his post with copies of reports on the committed crimes and a draft of the indictment. No official confirmation is available at the official GBR website.

In February 2019, family members of the people killed during the Maidan events reported that they filed a complaint to the European Court on Human Rights against the Ukrainian authorities for protracting the investigation into the mass murder case beyond any reasonable time frame.
