12.03.2019, Caracas.

The armed forces have been deployed to strategically important facilities of the country’s power grid, stated Venezuela’s Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez on March 11 on national television.

The Venezuelan Army has introduced an air surveillance system over the country’s power lines and determined to “stabilize the system,” reported Venezuela’s Defense Minister.

On March 10, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro blamed the widespread power outage on multiple cyber attacks and promised to restore electricity within a few hours.

The opposition leader Juan Gaido announced his intention to impose a state of emergency in Venezuela due to the power outage and to turn to the international community for help.
