Israeli military caught under fire on Syrian border

Israeli military personnel were caught under fire on the border with Syria, the press-service of the Israeli Defense Forces reported on January 24 on the official web-site of the national armed forces.

The report says that a group of Israeli military personnel acting “in the enclave next to the Syrian border fortifications” was fired upon by unknown forces. “The troops returned fire.”

The Israeli side did not suffer losses, the report says.

On January 20, the situation between Israel and Syria deteriorated. Israeli has deployed the new Iron Dome air defence system in the southern part of the country. On January 21, Israel attacked the Iranian Al Quds unit located on Syrian territory.
