Syria restores car production

10.01.2019, Damascus.

A car production line was launched in the vicinity of Damascus, the NTV channel reported on January 10.

A manufacturing plant established in 2004 resumed operation after hostilities stopped around Damascus. The Siamco Syrian-Iranian company announced the resumption of car production in 2017, and it reached a moderate rate of 20 cars a day by 2019. According to plant director Mohammed Ziyadnamy, the full capacity of the production line is up to 40 cars per day.

Currently, manual labor is used at the facility, but the management plans to extend the shop and to install an automated line.

Syria, which was devastated by many years of civil war, is beginning to restore its civil economy. Damascus promised to give high-priority restoration tasks to friendly countries.
