Free Syrian Army urges Kurds to lay down arms

22.12.2018, Damascus.

Free Syrian Army forces distributed leaflets urging the armed groups of the Syrian Kurds to lay down arms, Trend reported on December 21.

In the leaflets written on behalf of the leadership of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) address the Kurdish organization “Democratic Union” (PYD) and its People’s Protection Units (YPG).

According to this address, the FSA and the Turkish Armed Forces will clean “northern Syria from terrorists.” The FSA reminds the Kurds that they should not rely on any further help from the USA.

In January 2018, the USA announced that they would support the Kurdish militia, which provoked Turkey to begin Operation Olive Branch.

On December 12, 2018, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the beginning of another military operation in northern Syria against the Syrian Kurds. A week later, on December 19, the US leadership announced the withdrawal of their forces from Syria.
