Putin reveals the goal of Russia’s foreign policy

The main goal of Russian foreign policy is to provide favorable conditions for development of the Russian Federation, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 20 during his annual press conference, a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent reports.

“In fact, our main goal is to provide favorable conditions for development of the Russian Federation, its economy and social sphere. First of all, we have to ensure definite progress and the strengthening of our country internally. Also, it will allow us to position as an equal partner among equals on the international stage,” said Putin in response to the question regarding the goal of the Russian foreign policy from the Wall Street Journal reporter.

Russia is in favor of strengthening the system of international law, ensuring the unconditional implementation of the UN Charter, added the President. According to Putin, Russia needs to develop equal relations with all international partners precisely on such basis

On December 20, Vladimir Putin held a big annual press conference. Accredited journalists asked a large number of questions regarding Russian foreign and domestic policy, social problems, the international situation, etc.
