Poroshenko declares mobilization of reservists

02.12.2018, Kiev.

A draft of reservists and mobilization of territorial defense forces has been declared in regions of Ukraine, where martial law has been imposed, wrote the president of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko on December 1 on his Twitter page.

“A mobilization of reservists and territorial defense forces will be conducted in regions where martial law has been imposed,” reads the message.

Also, re-dislocation of Ukrainian military forces and military exercises have begun, wrote Poroshenko. Because of martial law being imposed, security has been strengthened for infrastructure objects, nuclear power plants, chemical plans, and also the country’s Black Sea and the Azov Sea ports.

Ukrainian air defense units have been put on high alert.

Earlier, president Poroshenko said that the defense industry has been switched to a special mode of functioning.

On November 28, Pyotr Poroshenko imposed martial law in a number of Ukrainian regions for 30 days. The law affects Ukrainian regions that border with Russia and the unrecognized state of Transnistria: the regions of Vinnitsa, Nikolaev, Odessa, Suma, Kharkov, Kherson, Chernigov, and parts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

The Ukrainian provocation near the Kerch Strait has become an excuse to impose martial law in Ukraine.
