Syrian Army fends off militants trying to break through to military base

Syrian Army successfully fended off an attack by the terrorist group Kataib al-Izza (organization banned in Russia), RIA Novosti News Agency informs citing Syrian military source on November 22.

Militants attack in the northern Hama was carried out from the settlements of Janabari and Tell-Sahr. Terrorists once again tried to break through to the position of the Syrian army in the demilitarized zone not far from Breidij base.

It is reported that the militants’ goal is to disrupt the Sochi agreements, which were reached to create a demilitarized zone. This time, the terrorists suffered losses.

On September 17, Russian and Turkish Defense Ministries signed a memorandum on stabilizing the Idlib situation, and the Russian and Turkish presidents agreed to create a demilitarized zone in Syria along the line of contact between the army and terrorists.
