New Parliament gathers in Donetsk People’s Republic

The Parliament members of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) gathered for their first session after the parliamentary election on November 19, RIA Novosti reports.

The session of the DPR second People’s Council began with new Council members’ parliamentary oath, in which they swore to honestly serve their people and defend their interests.

After the oath, Anatoly Bondarchuk, the oldest Council member, opened the session. The agenda included the election of Vice Chairman of the People’s Council. Also, the Council members will elect heads of parliamentary committees.

On November 11, election took place in the DPR, in which people elected the leader of the Republic and members of the Parliament. The voters showed a very high turnout of 80.1%. A 72.5% majority of voters supported the Donetsk Republic movement. The Free Donbass got 26.0%.

The European Union refused to recognize the elections in the DPR and the LPR. NATO also disagreed with the elections. However, many European countries delegated their representatives to the elections.
