The US military delivered a large shipment of munitions to Rammstein Air Base, Germany in October, Vesti.ru reports on October 27.
The US October delivery of munitions and equipment to the air base located near the German city of Rammstein set a record for the last 20 years. Military transport aircraft delivered about 100 cargo containers, completing more than 900 flights. This arms delivery is necessary to expand Pentagon’s capabilities for responding quickly to “threats from aggressive actors”, explained the US Armed Forces command.
Rammstein Air Base is the stronghold of the US Air Force in Europe, as well as its largest military logistics center. In September of 2017, the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung published an investigative report on the air base’s involvement in weapons shipments to the Syrian opposition. According to journalists, Russian-made weapons purchased on behalf of the CIA in European countries were delivered to Syria via the US Rammstein military base, among others.
