Donald Trump: Russia violated INF Treaty conditions – we are withdrawing from it

22.10.2018, Washington.

The US intends to leave the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), as Russia is violating its conditions, said US President Donald Trump on October 20 following his rally in Nevada.

While responding to a journalist’s request to either confirm or deny information that the US intends to withdraw from the INF Treaty, Donald Trump stated that Washington intends to nulify it, and to begin development of short-range and intermediate-range missiles.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that US National Security Advisor John Bolton will inform the Russian side on the decision made in Washington.  According to the media, he flew to Moscow today.

On October 2, the NATO General Secretary accused Russia of violating the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with its ground-based 9M729 Novator system.

The vice-chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Djabarov called the NATO Secretary’s declaration as “a figment of the sick American imagination.”
