Priests oppose closure of church schools in Kurdish part of Syria

The heads and the clergy of Christian churches in Syria’s autonomous Kurdish region expressed their protest against closing church schools, a Rossa Primavera News Agency source in Syria reports on August 19.

The heads and the clergy of Christian churches in the al-Jazeera and al-Furat districts of the city of Qamishli protested against the decision of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration to close church schools and described the decision as a dangerous message that threatens the Christian presence in the area.

The city of Qamishli is situated in northern Syria on the border with Turkey and is controlled by the Kurdish militia.
