A protest march against the transition to Latvian as the language of instruction in Latvia’s remaining Russian schools is to take place in Riga, according to the organizer of the event, Latvian Russian Union, DELFI.lv reported on May 28.

The event is to take place on the International Children’s Day, June 2, at noon. The march will end at the building of the Latvian Cabinet.

The main slogans of the march are “For Russian schools!”, “For the right to education in the mother tongue” and “For freedom and respect to people.”
