Donetsk, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya: Ukrainian army breaches ceasefire dozens of times

In the past 24 hours Ukrainian army breached ceasefire 28 times, Donetsk People’s Republic website reported on May 1st.

The shelling took place in the direction of the cities of Gorlovka, Donetsk and Mariupol.

 “The following regions/localities came under fire by the Ukrainian army: tGorlovka (villages of Ozeryanvka, Mikhaylovka, Zaytsevo, Shirokaya Balka), Dokuchaevsk, Donetsk (airport, Spartak, “Volvo-Center”), Yasinovataya (the villages of Vasilievka, Krutaya Balka), the villages of Bezymennoe, Leninskoe, Kominternovo, and Sakhanka,” the DPR reported.

Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination in the south-east of Ukraine reported of the Ukrainian army’s shelling in violation of the Minsk and ceasefire agreements.

The report specified that 120 mm and 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers, large caliber small arms and light arms as well as sniper’s rifles were fired. The Ukrainian side fired a total of 620 units of ammunition.

On the day before the Ukrainian army attacked Donetsk People’s Republic in violation of the ceasefire regime and the Minsk agreements, firing 433 units of ammunition.

The Ukrainian army is changing its “night shelling of the cities method to the tactics of morning and daytime shelling,” Eduard Basurin, Deputy Operations Commander of Donetsk People’s Republic said. This is done in order to damage as many infrastructure facilities as possible and increase the number of killed and wounded civilians.

On April 30th, Ukrainian president Petr Poroshenko declared changing the so called anti-terrorist operation (technically carried out under the SBU) into the operation of Joint Forces of Ukraine (under the general control of the Ukrainian army).
