Islamists in Syria disarmed thanks to Russia (photos)

Terrorist groups surrendered their weapons to the Syrian army, according to agreements with the Russian side, on April 23, a Rossa Primavera Information Agency source in Syria reports.

The Jaysh al-Islam, Tahrir al-Sham, Aswad al-Sharqiya, Forces of Ahmad al-Abdo, Jaysh Tahrir al-Sham, and Hakarat Ahrar al-Sham groups (organizations banned in Russia) turned in their arsenals. This took place in the region of Eastern Qalamoun in the north-eastern Damascus province.

The source also reported that the Ahmad al-Abdo and Liwa Shuhada al-Qaryatayn terrorist groups arrived on the Al-Tanf direction after the agreement regarding the Islamists’ exit from the Eastern Qalamoun region was reached.

Previously, the Head of the Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Major General Yury Evtushenko, announced the surrender of 30 armored vehicles, three pickup cars with large-caliber machine guns, 36 anti-tank rocket launchers, 20 large-caliber machine guns, 23 short-range missiles, 111 mortar shells, 60 hand grenades, and over 63 thousand small arms munitions in Eastern Qalamoun. Also, warehouses with a large number of various munitions were taken under Syrian army’s protection.

Moreover, the militants were searched at the collecting point in the Al-Ruhaybah settlement in Eastern Qalamoun. Explosive belts and munitions that militants tried to keep during their exit to the Aleppo province were seized.
