Prime Ministers of Iraq and Turkey discuss the problems of terrorism

27.03.2018, Ankara.

During a telephone call, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım discussed the issues of close cooperation within the framework of combatting terrorism, Anadolu Information Agency reports.

Heads of two governments discussed bilateral relations and the problem of manifestations of terrorism. Heads of the governments also paid their attention to the existence of serious potential for the development of economic ties.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım expressed hope that Baghdad, having gained victory in combatting ISIL terrorists (organization banned in Russia), will show the same resolution in combatting PKK terrorists (Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan, or the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, Rossa Primavera News Agency), which corresponds to the spirit of good-neighborly relations with Turkey.

In December 2017, Iraq officially declared victory over ISIL terrorist organization (organization banned in Russia).

On April 3, 2008, European court ruled that inclusion of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, an organization struggling for political rights of the Kurds in Turkey and creation of the Kurdish autonomy within Turkey, into the list of terrorist organizations is illegal,.
