Byaly: Possible reason for firing Tillerson is his being self-willed

14.03.2018, Moscow.

Yury Byaly, the Vice-President of the Experimental Creative Center Foundation in an interview to a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent on March 13, 2018, named accumulated clash of views as a possible reason why the US President Donald Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

The expert stressed that starting from the first days from his appointment Tillerson showed well-known independence in his views regarding key issues of the US policy, the quality which self-willed Trump has never tolerated in his employees.

Tillerson opposed the idea of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to start the “Palestinian reconciliation” process through official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the US Embassy there.

Additionally, according to Byaly, Tillerson did not believe in anti-Iranian unification of Arab monarchies under the leadership of Israel, opposed aiding the Arab coalition in its “economic war” against Qatar, urged the US to behave more carefully in its attempts to make Europe adopt new tough sanctions against Iran, as well as in supporting Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen.

Byaly also added that “Tillerson was almost openly refusing to have anythig to do with Trump’s “new policy” on leaving key global economic agreements, including Trans-Pacific and Trans-Atlantic Partnerships, NAFTA, and Paris Agreement.”

“It seems that these differences of view reached their maximum when Trump declared his policy, contradicting the norms of WTO, of adopting protective tariffs for steel and aluminum import to the US, and started to discuss the same protective measures for other economic areas,” the expert said.

US President Donald Trump dismissed Rex Tillerson from the office of Secretary of State on March 13. Former CIA director Mike Pompeo was assigned to his office. For the first time in the history of the USA a woman, a high ranking intelligence officer Gina Haspel, will become head of the CIA.
