Assassination attempt on a fugitive Islamist leader in Syria

Unidentified assailants committed an assassination attempt on Major Jamil al-Saleh, a fugitive commander of Jaysh al-Izza (Islamist militant group fighting in Syria) on March 12, Rossa Primavera News Agency sources report from the scene.

An assassination attempt took place in the south of Idlib province in Syria. Also, Ahmad al-Saleh, one of the “assassin’s brigade” commanders of Jaysh al-Izza, has reported fled.

On December 17, Jaysh al-Izza (Army of Glory) opened artillery fire at the Russian military base. It is reported that this group is currently fighting in alliance with Jabhat al-Nusra (organization banned in Russia), and is one of the so-called Syrian independent opposition groups directly armed by the US.
