Russian military delivers humanitarian aid to Syrian orphans

The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria has delivered a shipment of humanitarian aid to an orphanage in the Syrian city of Hama, Andrei Nekipelov, a representative of the Center, announced on February 26 at a meeting with journalists, TASS reports. 

“Today we arrived in the city of Hama. This orphanage is home to mostly those children whose fathers died in battles defending their homeland. If in order to somehow support the kids, we will distribute humanitarian aid in form of food packages with sugar, rice, and canned food. We talked to the children – no one helps them except for Russia,” Nekipelov said.

The humanitarian aid included more than 500 sets of food and warm clothes.The orphanage is house to 200 orphans from 4 to 20 years old, according to its director Shua As Saud. “We are very grateful to you for helping us, we will try to distribute this aid to every child and teacher,” said the director.

The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria has been operating on its territory since February 23, 2016, and the humanitarian aid delivery to the ordinary citizens suffering from the civil war in Syria is one of its priorities.
