Media: The Kurds to leave about 50 buildings to Damascus in Afrin

On February 20, News for Turkey Telegram-channel reported that the Kurdish groups from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) will pass over 50 buildings in Afrin to the Syrian Arab Army.

Media continue to receive contradictory information regarding the situation near the city of Afrin. For example, the TASS News Agency, citing a representative of the YPG reported that Kurds are not going to pass the buildings to Damascus and just ask Syria to defend them from the Turkish boots on the ground.

At the same time the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that he approves the Syrian forces to start combatting terrorists (Ankara regards the YPG as a terrorist organization, but will not allow Damascus defend the YPG.

On January 20, the Turkish Army entered the Syrian territory near the city of Afrin to carry out the Olive Branch military operation. Official Ankara informed that the objective of the operation was to combat terrorists and preserve the territorial integrity of Syria. Damascus called these actions a violation of the sovereignty of Syria.
