The leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan, in the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV show on January 25, told about West’s new post-modernist stratagem and about Russia’s new role in the world.
In response to the host’s statement that the revision of the basic values and moral categories is already being discussed at the top level, Kurginyan said that the actor that carries out this revision was discussed long ago, “About 10 years ago, I mentioned a word which is always feared, ‘enemy’. I said ‘the postmodernist enemy’, I said that it was a great global power, that it is indeed decomposing everything, and that no one knew what was going to emerge from this chaos in the end.”
According to Sergey Kurginyan, the existence of such an enemy was not recognized at that moment; however, now it is clear that “Postmodernism is growing into a new stratagem for the West and the US,” when “everything is being turned inside out, this immorality is becoming the basis for the postmodernist world, the end of the project of Humanity is being announced, as well as the project of Humanism, and so on.”
According to Sergey Kurginyan, Russia has obviously turned out to be the force which, so far spontaneously, defends the project of Modernity with its norms and morality, which the West has abandoned.
Sergey Kurginyan recalled that the Western world had moved from Pre-Modernity, with its religious morality, to the world of Modernity, which had its own morality as well. He said that the when the opponents of the Soviet Union said they were transitioning to capitalism, meant the world of Modernity.
“Over the 25 years, while this was being discussed, the world turned toward Postmodernity where everything that was good in Modernity became bad. This is an anti–world,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
According to Sergey Kurginyan, Karl Marx believed that nothing could be worse than capitalism; however, the political scientist does not think this is true.
“Now, everything is coming to what a religious mind calls ‘the end of times’. This all is Postmodernity; read Marquis de Sade, who was its first ideologue. ‘We were born to make de Sade come true!’, this is what Postmodernity is,” the political scientist added.
According to Sergey Kurginyan, all the invariables for the world of Modernity are now being destroyed; they include not only the Modern morality, but also the Abrahamic religions, including Christianity. They also include nations as the framework of the state in the project of Modernity.
“All this is being destroyed. And it is all being destroyed for the sake of a controlled chaos, inside which […] tyranny must appear. This tyranny is the desired post-capitalist condition, which has nothing to do with basic capitalist values. Post-capitalism forces an unprecedented tyranny on the world. Its name is post-culture, post-modernity, and so forth, post-humanity, post-humanism. Russia must defend Modernity, humanism, and normal human values. It has taken on this conservative role despite everything that has happened to it. In a strange way, which is mysterious to humanity, it has turned out to be the katechon, which keeps the world from falling in the post-capitalist and post-moral abyss,” Sergey Kurginyan concluded.
