Survey: 59% of Moldavians oppose joining NATO

59.6% of Moldavians oppose joining NATO, according to a survey carried out in January by the Association of Sociologists and Demographists, Actualitati.md reported on January 24.

According to the survey, 59.6 % of respondents are against Moldavia’s joining NATO, 19.4% support the joining, 7.1% would not participate in a referendum on this subject, 8.6% do not find this issue important, and 5.3% do not know what NATO is. According to the outlet, the survey took place in January 2018, and it covered 1,783 respondents.

On September 13, 2017, Moldavia’s Cabinet was reported to approve the NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) for 2017–2019 to be used by the Republic’s authorities to develop its Armed Forces.
