The miserly Donetsk winter has finally made small children happy with a long-awaited snow. Even the grown-ups are smiling from time to time despite the additional problems the snow brings. We wish good health to all of you in these frosty days!
Sorceress-winter’s here at last.
She’s here, she spreads abroad; she stipples
The branches of the oak with flock;
Lies in a coverlet that ripples
Across the fields, round hill and rock;
The bank, the immobile stream are levelled
Beneath a shroud that’s all dishevelled;
Frost gleams. We watch with gleeful thanks
Old mother winter at her pranks.
(From Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin, translated by Charles Johnston)
Snow! Snow! Snow!
