Russian servicemen in Syria help evacuate over one hundred people

The Russian military of The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in the Syrian Arab Republic (RCROS) helped to evacuate 111 people from Eastern Ghouta, TASS reports on December 29.

29 seriously ill people, 31 hostage and people accompanying evacuees were evacuated. The evacuation was finished on the night of December 29. The humanitarian part of the campaign was conducted by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The RCROS in cooperation with the Syrian Armed Forces ensured security during the campaign.

The humanitarian convoy arrived to the administered territory of Syria through the checkpoint of Muhayam al-Wafidin in Damascus province. The evacuees are placed in hospitals of Damascus.

The territory of Eastern Ghouta is under the control of opposition forces. This area is included in the de-escalation zone. The servicemen of the RCROS played a significant role in negotiations for evacuating people from the zone.

Spokespeople of the RCROS continue work after the military operation in Syria was finished. Their tasks include helping refugees returning to their homes and evacuating civilians from de-escalation zones.
