On December 27, the Syrian government requested the UN Secretary General and the Security Council in a message regarding deals and coordination of actions between the international coalition forces led by the United States and the terrorist group Islamic State (an organization banned in Russia), TASS reports.
Syria’s permanent representative to the UN Munzer Munzer informed that the coalition forces led by the United States support terrorism and the destruction of the country’s potential. Munzer’s document also claims that there are reports and aerial photography data proving facts of making deals on the ground and coordinating actions between the coalition and terrorists, including the transportation of terrorist forces to different areas by the coalition aviation, and that this evidence is being ignored. All these actions are carried out with the aim to provide an opportunity for the assault on the Syrian Arab army and its allies. The document also mentions the incident that took place on December 13, when twenty three civilians were killed as a result of the international coalition missiles attacking the al Jerthi-al Sharqi village in the Deir ez-Zor province.
Munzer characterizes the coalition’s anti-terrorism policy as “two-faced”, when under the guise of fighting against the Islamic State (an organization banned in Russia), the coalition forces transport terrorists into secure and safe areas, providing them with protection. The diplomat notes that such steps were made as soon as the idea of setting up a puppet government in Syria by the alliance forces failed, after which the objective of the coalition changed and transformed into preventing the Syrian Arab Army’s victory over the Islamic State (an organization banned in Russia).
At the end of the message, the permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations called on the UN Security Council to take real steps to settle peace in the country and to prevent attacks against civilians. The diplomat called reports on successes of the US government and their allies over the Islamic State mendacious. According to Munzer, the reality is completely different, namely, it is the Syrian Arab army together with allied forces destroyed the Islamic State as well as other terrorist groups.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, General Valery Gerasimov, the training of militants is taking place at the US base located at the At Tanf garrison in southeastern Syria. There are also reports about the presence of extremists’ camps in the north-east of the country, where a US base is located. According to Gerasimov, they are actually extremists militants of the Islamic State (an organization banned in Russia), but after undergoing instruction, they rebranded and adopted the name of “New Syrian Army”.
