New groups of militants in Syria are trained in special training camps under the supervision of US’ instructors, Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in the Syrian Arab Republic said on December 16 citing information received from refugees.
The militants’ training camps are positioned near refugee camps in Syria. The created formations are called the New Syrian Army. According to the refugees, the militants are being prepared to confront the Syrian army in the south of Syria.
Earlier, the militants of Tahrir al-Sham (organization banned in Russia) announced a recruitment of new forces into their ranks. This militant group was created from the remains of Jabhat al-Nusra (organization banned in Russia). Because of this organization’s activity, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in Geneva Alexey Borodavkin said on December 15 that Russia will continue to support Syria in the struggle against militants left in the Syrian territory.
