New Delhi offers Beijing and Moscow to intensify cooperation

India is waiting for closer cooperation within the Russia–China–India trilateral format, the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj stated during her press conference on December 11, RIA Novosti informs.

The Foreign Ministers of Russia, China, and India, Sergei Lavrov, Wang Yi, and Sushma Swaraj respectively, were present at the meeting. The latter stated that the cooperation between the countries is beneficial for all sides.

“We invite Russia and China to closer cooperation in the trilateral format which will eventually bring its own fruits for all three countries. We believe that the RIC (Russia–India–China) format is functioning very effectively, and that the three countries can openly discuss a wide variety of questions and to maintain open relations,” Sushma Swaraj stated.

The Ministers were discussing the cooperation between the countries, joint projects, the international situation and its influence on their respective regions. The head of the Indian Foreign Ministry stressed the necessity of the integral joint fight against the transnational organized crime, as well as terrorist organizations.

“India also recommends to pursue an integral policy including joint actions in fighting extremism and religious fanaticism, as well as recruitment of militants, the terrorists’ funding sources, and their routes of movement,” Swaraj stated.

The cooperation between Moscow and Delhi is of strategical importance. India is one of the largest buyers of Russian weapons. Also, the countries hold negotiations concerning the nuclear energy for many years. This Indian market is very prospective and important for Russia.
