Ukraine blocks the restoration of power supply in Donetsk People's Republic

04.12.2017, Ukraine.

Residents of two localities in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have no access to electricity after Ukraine blocked the restoration of power supply, DPR in the Joint Center of Control and Coordination (JCCC) informed on December 4, RIA Novosti reports.

A DPR representative in the JCCC noted that several times the DPR requested Kiev to provide their repair workers with security guarantees, while the DPR expressed its willingness to provide such guarantees to Ukraine. “On December 2, we sent a second request to the Ukrainian side in the JCCC to provide the necessary guarantees, but no response has yet been received. Instead, Kiev’s representatives are trying to justify their inaction by accusing the DPR of allegedly blocking repairing works”, he said.

The representative of the JCCC also stressed that for the last three weeks, the villages of Gladosovo and Metallist have no access to power supply after transmission lines near Gorlovka were damaged by Ukrainian army’s shelling.

The situation in the DPR remains tense. In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops violated the ceasefire 48 times. During this time, the Ukrainian army launched over 1,500 shells on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Donetsk is subjected to the most powerful shelling. The Ukraine army uses artillery, grenade launchers, and a variety of small arms.
