03.12.2017, Ukraine.

Heating stations were deployed in front-line Lugansk region’s settlements, a Ukraine’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) official said, Rossa Primavera News Agency reports on December 2.

There is still no heat in Ukraine-controlled territories of Lugansk region, in the townships of Nizhnee and Toshkovka, according to the MES official. Public utility workers were to replace 20 kilometres of insulated pipes, but ended up with replacing just 5 kilometres, the official stressed. Because of a drastic drop in temperature and high precipitation in the region, the official continued, an order to deploy heating stations for 1 to 25 of December term was issued.

In 2014, the population of Lugansk and Donetsk regions refused to recognize legitimacy of the new authorities that had overthrown rightfully elected president Yanukovich. In the process of armed confrontation between the people of Donbass and the right-wing nationalistic powers that came to power in the Ukraine, Ukraine continued to control parts of Lugansk and Donetsk regions. The townships of Nizhnee and Toshkovka are situated in Kiev-controlled territory, 6 kilometers away from the demarcation line in Lugansk region.
